Ac compressor V70-XC70

2001 v 70 100 k .compressor does not run.If the freon level is low would that cause it to not run. I will replace fmm1 fuse tomorrow and see if that is the easy fix. Thanks petep

      It seldom goes 'bone dry'. I would start with one 12oz can. The system only holds 24-26 oz.

      You can verify the system by unplugging the pressostat and using a paperclip in the connector. That should engage the compressor if the switch is on and the temperature set to cold. Pressostat is on the coolant line just before the firewall.

    Correct, the compressor will not run if the freon is low. But, check by ear if you have Electronic climate control. Before starting the car, switch the blower to automatic (the AC will not run if the blower is at zero) and listen for the compressir clutch to click within 30 seconds of starting the engine. If you hear the click, then the fuses are OK.

    Most R134a bottles come with gauges these days.
