Just got an email from FCP that they are now carrying Kevlar timing belts...Any benefit to this or just a sales take?

Kevlar belts are MUCH better than the ordinary reinforced rubber ones. They can take more heat, spin faster, longer, and will stretch less over their lifetime.

However I have never seen them recommend an increased service interval.

So folks who really like to wind their engines out (racing?) like these belts, but they still stick to the normal service interval. They just get them for peace of mind when they're really working their engines hard.

Your belt AND rollers are good for 70K miles, why pay extra?

Thanks! I was just checking to see if this extended change intervals at all. You are right 70k is plenty but if extended I wanted to know by how much etc...I am coming up on my 140k change. Thanks again!

Not sure what they mean by a "Kevlar" belt. I do know it's not too flexable when worn ten hours a day.
