poor/no idle 850

Hi,

I have parked my '96 Volvo 855 for about 3 months. I went to start it today and it ran ok at higher rpm's but had a real choppy idle, and stalled. The car ran perfect when I parked it. Any suggestions?

What confuses me the most is it ran so well when I parked it...

Thanks for your input!

That's what all of the guys say about junkers they are selling :)

Three months in sub-zero temps? No mice in the air cleaner?

Start it up before it snows tomorrow. Push on the gas pedal and try keeping it at 2K rpm for a good 60 seconds. Then drive around for a good 20 minutes in second and third gear. This will burn off any water in the oil or tranny, charge the battery, and drive the mice nuts.

Wait a few seconds and rev it (not high) a bit. Then get it out and drive it. Cars do not like sitting for long periods of time. Our BMW usually sits in the garage for 3 months during the winter, and it feels like it's running on 2 cylinders the first time we start it.

If it still runs bad once it's had a chance to warm up and driven around a bit, your Idle Control Valve or MAF sensor may need to be cleaned.
