What if I need a new ECU for 98 S70 T5? S70

To see Why I'm asking this see my post About MAP/Barometer Sensor Issues.

If the new sensor I just bought does not cure the problem then we may have to decide that It is an ECU problem. Just so I know what's the MSRP for a replament ECU from Volvo?

How viable might it be to get a flashed upgraded ECU from IPD? I don't Care about the extra horsepower, seeing as how I have never put the transmission in the S mode.

Any other sources for ECUs other than Ebay? Junk yards?

Regards

Woody

An ECU from the dealer costs more than your car is worth, and not worth it. Junk yards, such as Erie vovo are very reptuable and will give you a 1 year return policy. IPD does not supply ECUs.

Really, you should be driving in S around town and E on the highway. This keeps the rpms at a reasonable speed and your mpg will not suffer. If you do all of your travel at around 1500rpm, you will sustain valve damage eventually. These engines are not meant to run at close to idle speed, the valves will not be excited enough to rotate and will burn out.
Besides, the engine oil will never get hot enough to burn off impurities. The oil cooler will keep it too cold under 2000rpm.

      Hey Klause,

Putting the transmission selector in S rather than E is a trip. Now when I come out into traffic and have some room I have been hitting the kick down and letting the engine rev.

Did that the other day after setting the transmission to S and goosed it as came on to a 55 MPH stretch. Surprise surprise when I goosed it just a but the turbo kicked in while I was still in 2nd and the Torque effect on the steering was interesting when it up shifted to 3rd. Wow!

      Regards

LOL !!! That is what the T5 is all about! Just don't let the turbo go to full bost when it is raining, the tires might break loose and you start sliding towards the ditch.

        Blow those cobwebs out!
