Blower Motor V70-XC70

Gentlemen....

would appreciate any advice on checking out non functioning blower motor.
I just got a 98 v70 t5. the blower does not run in and mode at all. The lights on
the various control are steadly lite up... no blinking. Is a there a relay controling the motor... or is everything integrated in the ecc module..

(The A/c does not work... clutch does not actuate.... I can not beleive
that this could have any affect..???)

Any suggestions...

Many Thanks,
Greg

Hellooo Klaus....

Ref. Blower Motor... Thanku ... Appreciated your prompt reponse.

I checked all fuses.. Fineally I dove in via the Cabin filter,
and spun the motor by hand... it took off okay just fine.. no binding,
but when it stops I goto help it go again...

Do u think a new blower motor is indicated... are there carbon brushes
in this motor... Your suggestions would be much APPRECIATED...

Thanks,
Greg

Interesting. Usually, the blower starts making a lot of noise before it fails like that. The bearings dry up and burn out.
You could take the blower out of the car and bench test it with 12V. Or let it run on high speed for about 15 minutes and see if it starts to slow down, which means buy a new motor.
It only takes about 1 hour to replace the motor, once you figure how to get the electrical connectors off the case.
Make sure you also replace the cabin filter, if you haven't done so already.

Because winter is coming, it snowed here today, I suggest getting a new blower. Then you can play with the old one on the bench and have a possible backup?

Set the vent and fan speed to auto with the AC switched on, then restart the car. This lets the ECC check all of the parts. You should hear the compressor click on andd off and the cabin blower hit high speed for a second. If there are any faults, the ECC unit will flash yellow lights about 20 times and shut itself off.

Check the fuse(s) for the ECC unit and blower.
