Just bought a new to me 93 850 GLT. Car runs great, but it is oil change time.

What size socket do I need for the drain plug? Car is so new to me I haven't looked yet...

I also need a confirmation regarding the oil filter. I have a couple of 240 oil filters lying around. They are Mann W917's. Is it true they are the same filters used on 850's?

    It is still the same filter! After all of these years! My 1975 164 also used it. You will need an aluminum crush washer.
    The "new" cars now have the environmentally correct filter, but the 850 is not new.

        Only the internal filter is tossed. The hard exterior casing is reused. Less garbage.
        Now, if only the people who accept used oil would also accept filters...

      That' why I keep a case of Mann's handy, they fit the 122, brother's 245, the 855, and the V70 ! We had to break the rule with the wife mobile's S40, duhhh.

    I believe the plug is a 17mm. 740's and 850's use the same MANN filter. Don't know about the 240.

      240's and 740's have the same engine and use the same filter, so it sounds like the 850's are the same.
