Access to Outside Temp Gauge Lamp S90-V90 1998

I've replaced most of the burned-out lamps in my dash switches and radio on my V90 (GREAT tips on lamp replacements, by the way -- thanks MUCH!) but I can't figure out how to remove the driver's side kick panel and under-dash panel to get to the lamps in the outside temp display and next to the headlight switch. Is there a hidden clip, fastener or screw somewhere? I'm being cautious because I don't want to break anything. Thanks for any tips.

Can you recap, or direct me to the instructions for replacing radio bulbs? The 4/5/6 radio presets and a few other controls at the lower right of the stereo unit are out. Thanks!

I have several lamps out in my dash and on the console. PRND3L are all out as well as the left side of radio buttons. My temp gauge light and the two bottom corner bulbs are out also. I could not find any of the tips on replacing the bulbs. Could you email me the howto at mcoffey@triad.rr.com.
I also have very low pressure on the windshield washer. I have checked the hoses and they look good. Anyone have ideas on this problem.

    Thanks,

I dunno, but I think it's at least as easy to gain access by removing the instrument cluster. Gregski has provided us with a great diagram of the cluster and trim screw locations. I think it's available in the picture gallery. My only caution would be to wait until warmer weather to avoid snapping the faux wood trim piece. It's the only thing that made me nervous when I install the gauge.

As I remember, there is a trim cover over a couple screws right under the steering column. With the cover off the screws can be taken out. Then the panel can be freed from the center consoul by pulling posts out of spring loaded clips. Work the panel out of the slides etc.

Then there will be a knee crash shield held by 2 bolts and 2 nuts that will need to come out.

In order to get your hands up behind the panel enough to approach the lamp you will need to pull a relay bracket down out of the way next to the outside side of the steering column. As I remember there is a single screw on the bottom holding it in place. The upper part of the relay bracket slides into a mating slot on the top. When you reassemble, be sure to make the tab fit into the slot.

The lamp is located on the top of the read-out housing and I couldn't get enough room to twist it with my fingers. So... an 8mm open end wrench was able to get the first 45 degree turn and the second by turning the wrench over. Once the bulb was turned 90 degrees, (CCW), it can be lifted out with two fingers. Drop the new one in and reverse the wrench procedure to reseat the bulb.

Hope this helps. The second time will be much easier!

This procedure needs to be in the FAQ!

Just had to replace mine on the 96 960. It's a fairly straight forward procedure, take your time. I removed the instrument cluster and replaced all the bulbs while I was at it, the oat gage bulb is on the upper side of the unit as I recall and I may attempt replacement next time w/o removing the cluster.
