Jeff,
I'm sorry I didn't see your post. I haven't been to the Forum in 3 months. By now, you have probably solved your problem. If not, I looked under the hood of my car, and the only thing I can be sure is switched on with the ignition and not controlled by something else, is power to the coil. Use a 12 volt test light, clipped to ground, and probe for a wire the lights the light only when the key is switched on.
