122S Breakdown and still grumbled

....My 65 122S had a bad lifter, unbeknownst to me it was coming apart. One night after enjoying some time with friends I went out to go home (about a 15 mile ride) and upon starting the car something went Bang Crunch Crunch crunch. I knew it was a bad bad sign and the motor was suddenly firing with a loud bang and obviously not happy, I figured, well if its gone lets try to get er home. About half an hour later I limped the car home on the shoulder at about 5 MPH. Got in my driveway and that's where she checked out. the following morn I opened the engine to see the #1 lifter was down, the head was polluted in the first chamber but #2 was clean as a whistle, #1 was discharging into #2 causing an overload, 3 and 4 where normal. I pulled the motor and the pistons were all worn but #2 was basically shattered in the ring area. The lifter bottom was also in pieces in the bottom of the block. The car should have stopped running right away but somehow managed to get me home running on 2 and misfiring on one cylinder.
