Yes, the picture in the last post is of what used to be my car (Thanks for posting that Klaus, I had trouble with the attachment function on my original post)
And thanks for your concern George, I'm fine (as is my 2 year-old son who was in the back seat).
This incident confirmed my steadfast belief in the safety of these cars. It was a slippery day, but the 245 with 4-studded Hakkapeliitta snow tires was perfectly sure-footed. I was plowed into by a Nissan X-tera that was decidedly less snow worthy. Despite being hit at a right angle by a larger vehicle going 30+ mph, my Volvo was only pushed a few feet toward oncoming traffic in the adjacent lane. I'm pretty certain a lighter car in the same situation would have been spun into the oncoming lane and suffered a double collision.
It took me a while, but I have replaced my lost '90 245 with a '92. I'm pretty excited as the '92 is in really excellent shape---not a speck of rust on her, which is rare in these parts and only 170k on the dial of this one---plus, I've never owned a white one ;-) (1 burgundy '83, two silver '91 and '90 and one graphite '90)
