1965 Volvo 544 named Britta

When I purchased my 1965 544 Sport Volvo in 2006, the original owner contacted me to ask if we could check under the rubber on the rocker panel area to see if the word "Britta" was still there. When he purchased the car new in 1965, he removed the rubber to oil the screws and noticed that someone from the factory had written "Britta" in glue, on the rocker panel area, prior to installing the rubber over it. We have since restored the car, but covered "Britta"when painting, so that she lives on forever. Whoever Britta is/was is a mystery.... Volvo in Sweden tried looking it up from their factory workers in 1965, but they are only listed by last name. They are going to forward this picture to a newspaper in Sweden to see if someone comes forward... Pretty neat history and a pretty neat car. Still always hoping someone from Sweden would remember writing the name Britta on this car.

Thanks for the great story. My hat's off to you for doing such a great job in keeping the car on the road. A real treasure!

Thank you very much. I know.. they are nice cars. We have a couple. And, as you say, if we had more room and more $$$, we would have more. Thanks for your kind comment
