1989 Volvo 780 B230FT

Hello fellow Volvo'ers.

So I'm going to be buying a 1989 Volvo 780 with the B230FT motor. I just have a few questions though.

I know that the motors arethe same as what is in my other Volvo's. I have 3 740 Turbos. Two 87's and an 88 so the mechanics would be the same, but what about a repair manual specific to the 780. Do they exist?

My other question is this: I had heard that the Turbo model was more sought after. Is this true? Does anyone know where I can get parts for this car? I've looked here, FCPGroton.com and eBay.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Especially about any known issues. Like how do I disconnect the phone (I think it's a phone. When I turn the key it sounds like a car phone if anyone understands what I mean).

There were 2 engine choices, the turbo or the V6. The V6 was a POS!

Tere is no separate manual for just the 780. All of the mechanical goodies are the same as the 740T, just the body panels and interior are different and hard to find.

That beeping noise you hear is probably the radio when you turn the car on. Mine used to do that also until I just left the radio off. Any phone is a self installed item.

Up until I think '88 the PRV V-6 was an awful motor indeed. The turbo 4-cyl is the more desireable of the two engine choices for sure. Make sure your 780 is in great shape inside and out, as most of the trim and panels are unique to that car, and made out of unobtanium or very expensive if they are available.
