Bizarre Charging Problem 700 1991

I have not checked my draws while running, but I'll bet that 20A (only 240W) is not abnormal.

You may have a charging problem: see the FAQ regarding failure of the exciter circuit which runs through the instrument panel. If the alternator lamp fails or the flex circuit board on the back of the panel goes, you'll have a failure to charge at anything less than 2000-2500 rpms. That can wipe out the battery charge in a week or two.
