5spd + o/d 1800

He has the BW35 automatic transmission, which (AFAIK) has a 1:1 top gear.

My old '72 1800E was an automatic car, after about 2 months of enthusiatic (but, seriously, not abusive) use, it strted slipping in first, slurring the shifts, etc. I took it out and put an M41 in. Worked GREAT with the auto car's 3.9 rear end. Perhaps a bit slow from a stop, but no 1800 is a drag racer anyhow. And the M41 with the 3.9 axle made for a VERY relaxed highway cruise.
