That's what I planned to do, even though the car seems to perform slightly better with the current timing than with the 10° BTDC at 800rpm where I last had it. I was just wondering if dieseling; or incipient dieseling, as is the case here; is normally associated with retarded timing. I had always associated it with carbon deposits, high floats, or mal-adjusted carbs, wrong plugs, etc., none of which I believe to be involved here. Well, I'll find out as I advance the timing one degree at a time. Thanks for the input.
