Roadside Assistance Programs - Pro/Con?

I have AAA Plus ... never intended to have to use it, but on my last road trip, I did - water pump (with only 31k miles) blew up. Ended up being towed down from Viola, CA (near Mt. Lassen, look on a map - there's almost nothing there!) to Redding, which was like 50-some miles, all covered. Except for waiting the hour-half for the tow truck to come from 70 miles away, no issues at all.

Alas, you have to be a AAA member in good standing for over a year to get the Plus. Regular AAA only covers 7 miles, plus covers 100.

Con ... well, it'll cost money. I look at is as an insurance, though - you never want to have to use it, but if something happens, you're glad you have it.

-- Kane ... of course with AAA, one gets discounts on hotel stays, etc., so the membership can be worth the savings right there.

While I would never deliberately mislead anyone, take into consideration that any information and advice provided was at no cost to you.
