Static Timing 700 1986

I replaced the cam the other day, along with a plethora of other changes and service items on this B230FT. I had to remove the distributor to change the cam, and did not mark its location in relation to the head, although I see it is recommended in the manual.
As the dizzy can also only be put back in one position in relation to the cam, due to the offset dogs, is it necessary to static time the car before I try to start it?
