overheating 240 1990

Yeah I hear ya, all I know is that every car that I pull in after a road test the fan is easy to turn if not simply free wheeling. The BMW's are really bad, they usually are just free wheeling. If I had to take a guess I would say that it is a matter of it not being hot enough under the hood to close off the thermostat and engage the fan. Because of this the fan free wheels and when the silicone grease is cold it is more viscous and you feel this when you spin it and when it heats up it is less viscous and easier to turn. Just a guess.
