Electric AC fan control - pressure switch or always on? 200 1993

Hey Guys,
I'm seeing conflicting info after searching here for awhile. Is the auxillary AC fan (in front of condensor) triggered by a certain pressure in the system or is it on all the time when the compressor is on? Seems like there was a change in 91 from temperature only triggered operation. I noticed last night the AC not quite putting out what it should and the temp. gauge slightly over 9 o'clock for the first time since I did the temp-comp-board-ectemy and I got out and looked and the fan was not running. I've seen posts here stating both types of control for the 240 fans.

Slightly different topic for everybody's info: I did the R134 conversion on my 92 740t over a year ago with the Volvo kit from FCP Grotton (borrowed vacuum pump and compressor to blow out the old oil from the evaporator) and it's still ice cold (I'm talking below 40 degree air coming out at times) so I'm a believer of that kit, for sure.

Thanks for any input.
Robb McC
