Engine turns but no start.

Hi

I have a 89 760 GLE 2.8, I can't get it to start. The other day it simply died. I got it towed to Volvo, who spent an hour trying to start it. They got it going but it misfired too much.

The service guy said it is a 'fuel management problem' - do you have any ideas??
