Temp/Gas Gauge Voltage Stabilizer upgrade

A few months back there was a post relating to a solid state upgrade for
the little voltage stabilizer that plugs into the back of the dash panel
and reduces the voltage to ~10volts for the temp and gas gauges. It used
a solid state #7810 regulator and a small capacitor. I had some trouble getting
the regulator (but now have 3 of them) but have now lost the diagram for
assembling it. I tried the search function on this board but only found
a vague reference to it. Can anyone point me to the REAL instructions?
Your help will be most gratefully appreciated!
