There is a recent post on exactly this situation.

You can (1) reset the light and the light will come back after XXXX miles.

(2) Disconnect the whole system - which is what I did.

Behind the instrument cluster, up in that nest of wires, is a black box similar in size to a cigarette pack. It has a push button to reset the light, and a cable connected to the speedo to count the miles. Remove the cable from the box.

Remember to check/change the 02 sensor every 100K or so.
