In that case, I think a distributor won't disappoint just because it is from a turbo. A friend nearby, who used a turbo's distributor in his '77 244 B21F, didn't mention anything about poor performance. He also did a lot of under-hood simplification, stopping just short of venting the crankcase through a modified oil cap breather. Lots of elbow room in there!
