That was a genius who ran an unfused wire from the fuse panel to the alternator! Thankfully the car didn't burn up! Is the original wire still there? I would pull the instrument cluster out and check the alternator bulb. It would be a real pain in the ... to reach the bulbs from below. Usually removing the instrument cluster is pretty easy. Does the '89 760 have the metal surround(with a small hole on each side) in front of the instruments? If so, the faq's show how to remove it and the instruments. You won't have to remove the speedometer head so don't worry about that. If you want to change to an unused idiot light you will still have to pull the instruments out and connect the alternator wire to another terminal on the back of the panel. I am away from my manuals at the moment, but if you want a schematic of the instrument panel I can email it to you. Just let me know. John
