240 lost power! 200 1990

I'll second checking the timing belt.. but there is something else. Small 4 cylinder engines, such as the Volvo Red Block engines, depend on back pressure from the exhaust to "tune" their torque curve and get more power at lower revs. Check for exhaust leaks throughout the system as well as the engine timing and timing belt.
