I agree with John. It sounds like a loose belt. What you do next depends on whether your air compressor work came with a guarantee. Check the receipt from 6 months ago. If covered, then take it back for an inspection of the repair work.

If not covered, then check the belt for tightness. I believe 1/4 to 1/2 inch of play is acceptable.
