Keeping the cool air flap open, and saving your AMM

I like your solution. What I've done is to remove the air box, take out the flapper mechanism altogether, and place aluminum tape over the hot air inlet before sliding the hot air hose back on. With your way, a person could get a new thermostat and resore the hot air feature if necessary.

You need to be sure the nail can't vibrate out of position. Hoe did you insure this?
