Okay, this will be the last installment of my ignition switch saga. I promise. After I had the cylinder out, I found I couldn't get the key to turn, and I took it to a locksmith. He determined that the cylinder was full of graphite, which he said will jam locks, and that the key was badly worn. He washed out the cylinder with WD40 and lubed it with a bit of silicone spray. With the number stamped on the key, he was able to pull up a numerical pattern on his computer, from which he then gound two new keys. Didn't know that was possible. Learned something new. Pretty neat. Thought I'd pass it along. BTW, pushbutton start works fine - one terminal wired to the hot side of the switch and the other to the starter solenoid.
