How to find a good rack? 200

I believe that you can replace a CAM rack with a ZF, the hoses and shaft and clamps line up OK. This should give you a larger sample of wrecks to choose from.

No leaks and tight boots are the main clue. Look in the fluid reservoir for ATF color, black = old and never changed. Red = the opposite.

With care you might be able to remove the rack with the tie rod ends still attached. Doing that might make the job a little easier, since the alignment would be close enough to dtive safely to the alignment shop.

Consider replacing other front parts as part of this job. Tie rod ends (if the PnP has bad ones)and ball joints, e.g. After each of these an alignment is necessary, so doing the rack and tie rod ends and ball joints together would save you additional alignments.

Good Luck,

Bob
