discharging A/C??? HOW? (recovering R12 and converting the system to R134a) 200

I also agree with the shop method. To the best of my knowledge, if you live inside the United States, it is unlawful to discharge R12 into the atmosphere. However, any AC shop will be thrilled to vaccum the R12 out of your system due to the high cost (and resale/recycling value) of R12.

After you get the R12 vacuumed out, replace the o-ring seals and Receiver-Dryer unit that are included in your new conversion kit (it's only $50 from Volvo, and worth every penny). Budget yourself part of a Saturday afternoon to accomplish this task and you should be in good shape. With the new O-rings and Dryer unit installed, have the system vacuumed down again and the R134a pumped in.

God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
