As those who read this forum in early 2000 know, my daughter Esther was
very nearly killed in a Geo Metro on Jan 5, 2000. It took them over an hour
and a half to get her out of the car. They had to jack up the dash to get
her shattered femur out from under it and she had fractures in nearly every
bone in her body. When I finally went to where the car was to get her stuff
out of it I could not even tell what kind of car it was. Folks on the
Brickboard and around the world prayed with us during the 40 days she was
in the Shock Trauma Intensive Care Unit at the Medical College of Georgia,
and afterwards as she overcame the effects of Acute Respiratory Distress
Syndrome (normally fatal), multiple surgeries, months of rehabilitation, etc.
She is doing well now, but NO THANKS to the Geo Metro!!
And then to add insult to injury, the insurance would not pay enough to pay
what she owed on the car!!
The Geo Metro is neither heavy enough, sturdy enough, nor well-enough engineered
to be a safe vehicle in a headon impact. I wouldn't ride in one, much less
drive or own one.
