PNP = Park Neutral Position Sensor. It located on the passengers side of the transmission and is a common weak point.
Turn the iginition key to to RUN (do not crank the engine). Place your foot on the brake and row the gearshift selector from P all the way back to L, 20-30 times quickly. Then put back in Park, and turn your key to Start and see if it cranks over.
Another thing you can try is to turn the key to the START position with your LEFT hand and move the gearshift lever very slowly forward or backward until the starter motor engages.
But theses two 'tricks' only work if it's a bad PNP sensor.
As DanR said, it could be a weak battery, faulty ignition switch, bad solenoid/starter, etc...
Give it a try and let us know.
