Camshaft seal removal on outside or inside of seal

I use either a dental tool or a tiny (1/8") screwdriver to get the seals out. Sometimes they are really baked in there though.

Apply the tool at the ID (shaft area) of the seal. The OD is stuck tightly into the bore of the head or block.

I apply lithium or silicone grease to the outside of new seals when installing them. Observe how far in your old ones are and drive the new ones in to the same depth.
