The speedo in my '91 745T has been flakey for a while. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. When it works the odometer works too, when the speedo does not work, neither does the odometer.
When the speedo does NOT work, it may just sit on zero while I'm driving, or it may jump up to 90 or 110 mph and just sit there. When it does either, the odometer does not work.
I've read the FAQ and have checked the sender on the diff. There was some rubbing and wear of the wire's insulation, which I fixed. This did not fix the problem.
I've checked and cleaned the ground at the driver's side foot well, left side, too.
I've pulled out the instrument cluster, but can't figure out how to get the funny, probably "tamper proof" connecter off of the back so I can take the cluster completely out of the car. Anyone know how to get the connecter off?
Does the problem with my speedo sound like the capacitor thing mentioned in the FAQ, or should I just take it to a speedo shop?
Thanks
