pre-pump access question

I was trying to change the pre-pump in my 94 940. I disconnected the fuel lines but couldn't figure out how to disconnect the electrical wiring. The wiring passed through something that looked like a staple and into the top of the fuel pump/sending unit assembly.

Does anybody have any ideas about how to get the electrical connections off?
