Water leaks in the windsheild area 200 1980

Hi all.
I have water leaking in to the front area of my 1982 245GL, soaking the carpet and rotting my floors. The rest of the car is not rusty. I am going to have the windsheild pulled and replace the gasket, but I am wondering if there are any other typical problem areas that could also be causing the leakage. It seems to run down the firewall area near either side of the car. Any ideas????
