This has been an unfortunate sequence of events (No relation to Lemony Snicket.)
I have struggled with my name for my whole life because I share it with both
my father and grandfather, and my comment on the situation is that "This
foolishness has gone far enough!" Back in the early 50s I was arrested for
not having a muffler on a motor scooter (several times), shooting fireworks
inside the city limits, and miscellaneous other offenses common to teenagers.
Every time my name was published in the local paper, and my father, a well-known
executive in a major oil company, caught a lot of flak from his associates at
work, since his name was the same as the one cited in the newspaper.
Consequently it was all transferred to me upon his return home that evening.
(So I got a double punishment - I had to scrape up the money to pay the fines,
in addition to being out of school to go to court, PLUS whatever the old man
assessed as an appropriate penalty.)
Your situation is different but perhaps similar, and in part due to your own
choice, made in total innocence.
Maybe it would be good to consider a handle change. Several come to mind,
for example, MarmaLade, Lade in the Shade, KoolLade, etc. Or something
not related to your name at all (like mine).
I'm pretty sure that nobody would think less of you for doing such a thing.
In any case, my commendation to you for the way you have handled this
circumstance.
