I've got a sunroof problem on my 940T similar to that posted by many others: one of the back corners doesn't go down all the way from the venting position. Motor seems to work OK, but allows only 1/2" or so movement within the venting position, with one corner flush or slightly below flush and the other (driver's side) 1/2" or so open.
Following various pointers in the 700/900 maintenance, I've gotten everything exposed (unclipped rear headliner panel springs, pushed back headliner panel, removed motor cover), but I didn't find instructions to deal specifically with the following situation that has created the sunroof seating problem.
With the underside of the sunroof exposed, I saw that the spring-loaded crossbar was akimbo, and the underlying problem was immediately evident.
Somehow, the pin at the rear end of the tracking cable on the driver's side has jumped the hook on the smaller of the two slots (vent up-down) on the slotted bracket, so that the cables are now misaligned. Driver's side cable is retracted several inches, and it's the position of disengaged pin, now under the slotted bracket, that's preventing this corner from going down. Passenger side assembly seems fine, and provided a good reference for how the whole mechanism should look/operate.
I've removed the crossbar and freed up the out-of-place pin assembly, but I can't figure out how to manually slide the retracted cable back so as to properly re-position the pin in the smaller slot.
I tried depressing the center screw pin on the motor, thinking this would disengage the cable, but it still won't budge.
So what's the next step? Do I need to take down the motor and fiddle with something there? Please help!
