As I understand it, '66 and earlier sedans have a spicer 27 rear with standard (for that type rear end) 10 spline axles. '66 and earlier wagons have that Salisbury unit with 17 or 18 spline axles. Very similar to the spicer 27 except for the axle spline count.
In '67 (or perhaps mid '66), all 122s got the Dana 30, but for some reason still had 10 spline axles, whereas every other car and truck in the world that used a dana 30 woulda had 27 spline axles... hence the difficulty in finding a lsd unit for the 10 spline axles.
When these cars got disc brakes (140, 1800e), the same dana 30 rear has the standard 27 spline axles, and sourcing lsd for that is easy.
I've not seen one, but I'd assume the limited slip unit you have from a 123gt is indeed a Volvo only unit, and no longer available... hence, gold dust. Take good care of that thing!
What we need is someone that can make a deal with a manufaturer of limited slip units to machine a batch to accept the Volvo 10 spline axles. Someone with a little more leverage than an individual... such as IPD....?????? :-)
