error code 1-2-3 Help me if you can 700 1989

Thanks for the info John, When I read the codes in socket 2(Fuel codes) I get get the 1-2-3 and in socket 6(ingnition codes) I get 2-2-4 which according to the document I have, that is also coolant temp sensor. The instructions I have to clear the code is as follows...
1) Correct fault then recheck codes.
2)Depress button for 5 seconds and release.
3)After 3 seconds, the LED should light up. While the LED is lit, depress the button again for 5 seconds, when release, the LED should go out.

I may have a problem here. When in socket 6, this procedure works. But when in socket 2, I depress button for 5 seconds and release but the LED doesn't Light up so that I can continue to step #3. Is there another way to clear the code while in socket 2? Or a way to clear codes while not in diagnostic mode even? Or is clear the codes while in socket 6 sufficient?
