Darn, forgot to take pics of that process!
I removed a tranny bolt from the right side and threaded it through a piece of chain (nice rubber coated stuff from the hardware store... get twice as much as you think you'll need!!!) and into the BACKSIDE of the hole (front of car). The other end was secured to a similar threaded hole in the block on the left front.
I had the manifolds off when I did it but the chain and stresses won't break the manifold if you either threaded it between runners or loop it around the backside.
By snagging the chain at a point about in the middle of the engine, the back hung down enough to allow me to use hand pressure to either push down the tailshaft of the tranny or lift on it to clear various impediments. That heater tap on the back of the head is the major obstruction to installation and removal so beware. I think it is the main reason no one likes to do it with the engine and tranny mated.
