I've never seen this happen before on my car, and it happened this morning as soon as I started up the car. The air temperature was about 45 deg, the coldest I've started it since Spring. The first thing I noticed was the shift indicator/ no 4th gear light was on, so I hit the 4th gear button and it went off. I also noticed the "SRS" light (whcih I don't think I was supposed to put a bulb into, but I did) was off, and that is on all the time. Then I noticed the tachometer, it read 0 rpm, which was impossible because the car was ideling fine. The fuel gauge was at E (and it has more than 1/2 a tank) and the volt meter was on the peg at 10. As I started to drive away I noticed the charging light come on and the speedometer didn't move. However the turbo gauge (air powered) and the temperature gauge worked fine. When I got to where I was going I put it in Park, and the shift light came back on. About an hour and a half later I got back in it an absolutly no problem, everyting worked fine.
Does anyone know that this could be a sign that something is a bout to fail (particulry the battery or altenator) or should I look for a loose connection on the instrument cluster?
