Hey Guys:
I Just wanted to drop a note about this past weekend's joint meet for VCOA and VSA at Florida's Sebring International Raceway. Great turnout (~50 Volvo's), fabulous weather, and great fun during the lunch time 'track tour' hosted by SCCA's Central Florida Region.
...and a super THANK YOU to Tricia Rose, of Auto Clinic of Naples (and also the top female 1800 ES race driver in SCCA) for doing most of the leg work in putting this togetherin her usual most thorough manner - MUCH APPRECIATED!
Volvo Club members got to see Bill and Tricia Rose's very sanitary 1800 ES and Steve Olander's similarly well-prepared 242 compete with (and defeat) a variety of 'also rans' with a much sportier reputation...but we already know the truth about Volvo performance, don't we?
Another very cool aspect of the weekend was The Rose's loan of their nicely modified street 123 (technically, a '132' Tricia tells us) to SCCA to use as a pace car for the SCCA races on Saturday...'exposed a lot of 'non brick types' to the excellence of our favorite marque...and the pace car driver loved its solid (and much enhanced) handling compared to his 'normal' ride...a bone stock 2001 Nissan Sedan, donated to SCCA by Nissan for marketing exposure.(though a solid demonstration of Nissan's generosity and support of club racing).
It would be interesting to see comments from participants at this event, and others who feel that holding a meet in conjunction with a club racing event is a good or bad idea....this could be a concept which is worth considering for other part of the country as well.
KEEP ROLLING!
