Another question about the '76 245 DL that I'm getting ready to make run.
Previous owner of the car smoked, a lot. The car has a very strong smell of cigarettes, even after being away from the previous smoking owner for almost a year now.
I'm in the process of cleaning up everything in the interior and I'd like some suggestions on what I could use to get this smell out. I'm going to be pulling the carpets to clean them up as best I can (although I don't know if I can get the cigarette burns out) as I think that's where most of the smell is coming from.
I looked in the archives, but I didn't really find much info. Most of the suggestions there seemed to cover the smell up, but I want to completely remove it.
Just how strong is the carpet? Would it survive say, a run through the washing machine as cloth seat covers do? I would just get some carpet out of one of the 240s in the junk yard, but red interior 240s seem to be rather rare...
Thanks as always.
