1982 242 GLT, B23E with Kjet CIS injection.
I had to replace the main wiring harness adjacent to the block. I tore off the intake manifold and also removed the air fuel unit. I separated the fuel distributor from the air fuel control unit housing in order to degrease the latter. Twenty two years of returned crankcase gases results in quite a bit of gunk.
After reaassembly the engine started, however was running noticeable higher than at Idle. Within 30 seconds the rpm went to 2500 and stayed there. Adding throtle increased rpm and when released it settled again at 2500. Idle adjustment screw on the front side of the throttle body would not reduce idle speed, even when fully closed.
I am wondering if I have messed something up in the air fuel unit. Any ideas
Thanks.
