IACV ??? 900 1991

Hi,

So I cleaned my IACV on my 91 940 SE today..hooked up the two hoses and went to school..sitting on the stoplight and I just remembered that I forgot to reconnect the wiring harness..parked the car reconnected the IACV and the car ran fine from my house to school which was 10 miles away..my question is..what is the fucntion of the IACV? Since it wasn't hooked up, should my car stall or not run?? Very confused..thanks!!!
