Thanks for your replies to my previous message.
The decision has been made to sell the car - not that it's not worth fixing, my mother-in-law just needs /wants something newer.
I spoke to the mechanic who looked at the car. There is zero compression on cylinders one and two. Compression on three and four are 140 and 160 respectively. He's guessing the valves are burned or bent. He proposes doing a "leak down test" to help identify the location of the leak and repairability. He said that if it is a valve problem, it would cost $1500 to $2000 to repair, including machine shop work. If it's not valves, but pistons, it would be much more.
What do you all think this car is worth in its current condition? It's a 1990 780 Bertone model, 4 cyl turbo, and besides the engine, it's in good shape.
What would be a good place - online or other to try to sell it? Classifieds on this board? eBay?
I will have some pictures of the car Sunday. Please let me know if you'd like to see them.
The car is in Bear, DE.
Thanks.
Ron
