testing new (used) fuel pump

Does the relay run hot with the new pump? There are three places heat can come from in the relay, maybe four:
1) Contacts on the relay to the socket.
2) Coil of the relay.
3) Internal switch contacts of the relay.
4) Circuit traces on the Printed circuit board.

All four will generate some heat, but 1, 3, and 4 will generate more heat than normal if the fuel pump is drawing more current than it should. I believe the FAQ has normal values for the fuel pump current.
