These engines were a 90° aluminum V6 that was a joint venture between Peugeot, Volvo, and Renault. They're sometimes referred to as "PVR" motors for that reason. The displacement and design of the engine depends on the age of it.
Originally introduced as a 2.7 L, it increased to 2.8 in... 1984 I think. A redesign for 1988 improved cam oiling and general reliability.
Not as durable as the iron-block 4 cylinders, but greatly improved in it's later years. Built up to 1990.
The progression of designations is B27 - B28 - B280. If you have one and are looking to rebuild or replace it, try to find a good B280.
