Clean those Throttle Bodies!

I just cleaned the throttle body on my '89 765 Tic. I haven't ever cleaned it and I've had the car for 60 k miles. At 202 k miles, it may have been the first time it's been done. Wow. There was actually a crud layer about 1/8" thick near the butterfly. It's amazing it could idle.

Anybody wondering about difficulty, I'd rate this among the easiest of jobs. Disconnect the hoses, unclip the TPS, and unbolt it. Just remember to use throttle body cleaner and NOT carburetor cleaner. Carb cleaner will supposedly eat the shaft seals on throttle bodies, and it's too cheap to worry about.

BTW, the idle is smoother than ever. I can't believe it took me this long to get to it.

HTH,
